Another week of the NHL season has come and gone, but not without teaching us a few lessons along the way.
Here's a look back at some of the most exciting and/or strange events that caught the attention of hockey fans over the last seven days and what we learned from them.
1. The 'Nazem Kadri hat trick'
We all know what a Gordie Howe hat trick is, right? A goal, an assist, and a fight in the same game.
On Tuesday, we may have witnessed the birth of the Nazem Kadri hat trick: two goals and a penalty for diving.
Kadri opened the scoring against the visiting Oilers, took his first embellishment penalty of the season (he had three in 2015-16), and then scored a highlight-reel game-winner in OT.

2. Ryan McDonagh loses his way
The Rangers' captain took a stick to the face in a game against St. Louis on Tuesday and coasted back to the New York bench.
At least that's where he thought he was heading.
Keep your head up, kid.
3. Habs will be hearing cannons in their sleep
Streaks are built to be broken, but ...wow. After going 9-0-1 in their first 10 games of the season, the Montreal Canadiens suffered their first defeat.
And suffer is the right word when the score is 10-0.
The Blue Jackets had already scored eight goals after the second period, and added a franchise-record ninth in the third. Goal-thirsty fans chanted "we want 10!" and they got that one, too.
Montreal netminder Al Montoya was the loneliest man in the rink, doing his best while being left high and dry by his teammates for all 10 goals.
While it's a game Montoya may want to forget, it helps to talk about stressful or traumatic situations. I'd like to think Canadiens management would bring in a certain alumni member to speak to Montoya...

There is some solace to be taken, Habs fans. The last time your backup gave up 10 goals? That was 1992-93, and that season ended pretty well.
4. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree
Did you know Max Domi's dad played in the NHL? Ryan Kesler learned this the hard way on Friday night.
The son of hockey pugilist Tie Domi looked a lot like his pop, dropping Kesler with a single uppercut.
Circle your calendars: the Ducks and Coyotes next meet on Jan. 6.
5. You have to be good to be lucky
No one doubts the talent of Sidney Crosby... but this goal, folks. This. Goal.
Oh, and he also redirected another off of Martin Jones en route to a 5-0 win in a Stanley Cup final rematch.
