Carey Price to miss season opener with flu bug

mercredi 12 octobre 2016

Montreal Canadiens standout goaltender Carey Price will miss the season opener while still recovering from the flu, the team announced on Wednesday.

The Canadiens begin their season Thursday night in Buffalo.

Injuries cost Price, one of the stars who led Team Canada to the World Cup of Hockey title in September, most of last season.

The 2015 Hart and Vezina winner sustained a knee injury in Edmonton after winning his first seven games. Price returned after missing nine games, but suffered a major setback on Nov. 25, when he hurt his MCL against the Rangers.

The 28-year-old missed nearly 60 games last season.

Price told reporters prior to the World Cup of Hockey that he was excited about getting back into game action and that he felt 100 per cent health-wise.

"I don't have any question marks about my health or my body or anything," Price said  "I've tested absolutely everything to the limit and I did everything correctly so I have absolutely no worries about anything."
