Canadians to watch on Day 2 of the Rio Paralympics

The 2016 Rio Paralympics continue today with several medal contenders for Canada competing. For a complete schedule of today's events, click here.

Here are some of the top Canadians to watch on Day 2:

Aurelie Rivard raring to go

The 20-year-old Canadian was touted as the swimmer to beat heading into the Games. Watch her compete in the women's 50-metre freestyle S10 qualifying heats at 9:20 a.m. ET. The final for the event takes place at 5:51 p.m. ET.​

Battle on the track

Canadians Brent Lakatos and Jean-Philippe Maranda both compete in the men's 100 T53 event. Maranda's heat takes place at 9 a.m. ET while Lakatos races at 9:14 a.m. ET. The final will take place at 6:22 p.m. ET.

Goalball begins in Rio

Canada's men's and women's teams start their respective tournaments on Friday. Led by Nancy Morin of Longueuil, Que., the women's team faces Turkey at 9:15 a.m. ET. The men's team plays host Brazil at 12:15 p.m. ET.

Men's wheelchair basketball back in action

Following an 80-46 drubbing at the hands of Spain, Canada has a chance to atone Friday against the Netherlands. David Eng and his charges take to the court at 5 p.m. ET.
