Mo Farah completed a double-double Saturday night.

The British distance runner won the men's 5,000-metre final in 13 minutes and three-point-three seconds Saturday night in Rio. The win comes a week after his 10,000-metre gold medal and caps off a repeat performance from the 2012 London Olympics where he also won both events.

Canada's Mohammed Ahmed was disqualified, then reinstated, after a frantic battle for position in the race's final lap.

Melissa Bishop set a new national record in the 800m.

The result was a disappointment for the 28-year-old from Eganville, Ont., who was gunning for a spot on the podium — and almost had one — but was bumped to fourth by Kenya's Margaret Wambui. South Africa's Caster Semenya won the gold, as expected.

Russia's domination of rhythmic gymnastics continues.

Three-time world champion Yana Kudryavtseva was poised to add Olympic champion to her resumé but a bobble with the baton was enough to yield top spot to Russian teammate Margarita Mamun, pictured below. Rio marks the fifth time in a row a Russian has won the Olympic gold in the event.

China capped off a dominant Olympics in diving on Saturday.

Chen Aisen won the last gold medal on offer in diving after consistent rip entries and tight spins on the men's 10-metre platform. The first-time Olympian's win is China's seventh gold of Rio's eight possible diving titles.

The Chinese badminton player beat Chong Wei Lee of Malaysia on Saturday to claim the Olympic gold medal. It is Chen's first gold, adding to the bronze he won in London in 2012. It is Lee's third Olympic silver medal.

Catharine Pendrel came from behind to win mountain bike bronze.

The Kamloops, B.C., mountain biker powered back from an early crash that dropped her to 15th place to win the bronze medal in the women's cross-country event on Saturday, just ahead of teammate Emily Batty, who finished fourth.
